With more than 400 confirmed exhibitors, nearly 1,200 varieties of cheese, and a 40,000 m\u00b2 exhibition area stretching through the streets of Zamora, the fair aims to surpass the 300,000 visitors from the previous edition and reach close to 350,000. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fregeneda emphasized that Fromago\u2019s success lies in something that is difficult to replicate: the direct connection between the cheesemaker and the end consumer. \u201cIt\u2019s not a trade show, but a street fair,\u201d she explained, where producers personally explain how they make their cheese, whether or not they have their own livestock, and what sets them apart. According to the director, this connection is essential for the sector to see a real return on its investment.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding internationalization, Fregeneda announced that there are already confirmed exhibitors from Portugal, France, Italy, and the Netherlands, and that efforts are actively underway to bring in producers from South America and the United States\u2014markets with a long tradition of cheese-making that is still relatively unknown in Spain.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Asturias, Europe&#8217;s great cheese-making region<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bego\u00f1a L\u00f3pez, Director General of Agroindustry and Rural Development for the Principality of Asturias, opened the institutional event with a clear message: \u201cAsturias will be at Fromago\u2014as it could not be otherwise.\u201d L\u00f3pez highlighted the Asturian cheese sector as \u201ciconic and strategic,\u201d noting that the Principality boasts more than 300 varieties of cheese, nearly 100 cheese makers, and four Designations of Origin \u2014 Cabrales, Gamon\u00e9u, Cas\u00edn, and Afuega\u2019l Pitu \u2014 in addition to a Protected Geographical Indication. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regional official described Asturias as \u201cEurope\u2019s largest cheese-making region\u201d and highlighted the human value behind each cheese: livestock farmers, cheesemakers, and the tradition that the Principality seeks to protect and promote through initiatives such as the new \u201cSaborea el Para\u00edso\u201d program.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A roundtable discussion featuring the voices of the cheesemakers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event included a panel discussion featuring Fernando Fregeneda from Queser\u00eda La Antigua in Fuentesa\u00faco, Manuel Via\u00f1o from Reny Picot, Natalia Lobeto from Queser\u00eda Redes with Cas\u00edn PDO cheese, and Ver\u00f3nica \u00c1lvarez from Queser\u00eda Temia with Afuega&#8217;l Pitu PDO cheese. Four voices from the sector who shared their experience and vision of an industry undergoing rapid transformation. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Javier Fa\u00fandez, president of the Zamora Provincial Council, delivered the closing remarks, reaffirming the institution\u2019s commitment to Fromago and EILZA as strategic projects for the province and for the national cheese industry.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was hosted by \u00c1ngeles Rivero, general manager of Prensa Ib\u00e9rica in Asturias and Castilla y Le\u00f3n, and was also attended by the deputy mayor of Oviedo, Mario Arias, and Bego\u00f1a Galache, editor-in-chief of La Opini\u00f3n de Zamora.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The grand finale was a tasting of cheeses from Zamora and Asturias. Two regions with an extraordinary cheese-making tradition and much to build together. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The tour continues<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oviedo is just the first stop.
