Fromago Cheese Fairs in Zamora and Cheese of Italy are twinned

The President of the Provincial Council travels to Bra to finalize the collaboration agreement.

The president of the Zamora Provincial Council, Javier Faúndez Domínguez, and the councilor in charge of Economic Development and the “Alimentos de Zamora” brand, Emilio Fernández Martínez, were received this Thursday by the mayor of Bra ( Italy), Giovanni Fogliato, and agreed to establish a sister-city relationship between the Italian city’s cheese fair, “Cheese,” and the Zamora International Cheese Fair “Fromago,” which will take effect during the fair’s second edition, to be held in 2024.

The meeting was also attended by Barbara Nappini, president of Slow Food Italy, the Slow Food organization that organizes the Cheese event together with the city of Bra, and Daniela Conte, coordinator of the Slow Food network in Spain.

Javier Faúndez and Emilio Fernández were joined by Sara Fregeneda, president of the International School of Dairy Industries of Zamora (EILZA), which is in charge of organizing Fromago 2024—an event for which the Provincial Council will allocate 550,000 euros— and by Fernando Fregeneda, representing the Slow Food community of Zamora, among others.

The delegation from Zamora met in the Giunta Room of the Bra town hall with the two organizations hosting the Cheese Fair in the Italian town, with the aim of laying the groundwork for the collaboration agreement to be signed between the two fairs, while also exchanging experiences with a view to improving next year’s Zamora event in every possible way.

The president of the Provincial Council and the head of Alimentos de Zamora will attend tomorrow the official opening of the Fair with which they will conclude their visit to Italy.

The Bra Cheese Fair reaches its XIV edition this year. Organized by the Municipality of Bra and Slow Food, it is held biannually in defense of natural, artisanal and clean label cheeses.

This year’s edition opens this Friday, September 15, and will last until Monday , September 18, with 401 exhibitors, street kitchens, food trucks, etc.
