This Friday took place the meeting of the Local Security Board to organize the second edition of Fromago 2024, which expects to gather more than 300,000 people. The subdelegate of the Government in Zamora, Ángel Blanco, highlighted the extensive security operation planned to ensure the tranquility of the event. “We want this edition to be as safe as the first one, in which there were no reports of robberies or thefts,” he said.
The operation will include a notable presence of the National Police, comparable to the deployments made during Easter or the I edition of Fromago. Surveillance will be intensified in key areas of the fair without neglecting other areas of the city. Likewise, the Civil Guard will increase its presence, establishing controls at the entrances and exits of Zamora, with special emphasis on public safety, traffic and conducting alcohol and drug tests.
Civil Guard Helicopter
In addition, on September 13 and 14, when more public influx is expected, aerial surveillance will be added with a helicopter. In addition to this, private security will be contracted by the fair itself, together with the close cooperation between the National Police, the Civil Guard and the Municipal Police, which Blanco described as “excellent coordination”.
One of the issues of greatest concern is the prevention of sexual assault. For this purpose, a purple point will be installed to attend any possible incident of this type. Civil Protection and State security forces will also collaborate in these preventive tasks.
Improved communications
The sub-delegate called on the population to collaborate by reporting any suspicious situation, stressing that “security cannot be ensured without citizen cooperation”. Finally, he mentioned that work has been done with telecommunications companies to improve network coverage, to avoid any network saturation.
The organization of Fromago 2024, in collaboration with the authorities, seeks to ensure that the event takes place without incident.
