The Provincial Council of Zamora, in collaboration with the International School of Dairy Industries (EILZA), wanted to recognize the valuable work of the volunteers who participated in the successful Fromago Cheese Experience 2024 Cheeses of Spain Fair.
To thank them for their dedication, all the members of the Capitonis Durii association, who have been an essential part of the event, have enjoyed an immersive experience around cheese, one of the great treasures of the province of Zamora.
The experience began this Saturday, September 28, with a visit to a sheep farm in Torremora, belonging to the Asovino cooperative, where volunteers had the opportunity to learn about the process of sheep breeding, feeding, milk collection and the work that Carlos and his family dedicate their day to day, a fundamental part in the production of cheese from Zamora.
They then moved on to the municipality of Fuentesaúco, where they delved into the secrets of Quesería La Antigua. There, they witnessed the artisanal production process of the region’s famous cheeses and learned about their new project, Quesoturismo, dedicated to cheese tourism in the town, with a wide range of activities for all audiences. The volunteers were given a guided tour of the facilities and were able to make their own cheese and taste the final product in a guided tasting.
The day culminated with a special meal, which included an exquisite cheese table that delighted the attendees with the best varieties of the area.
This event has been organized with great care and affection by the Zamora Provincial Council and the International School of Dairy Industries of Zamora (EILZA), who have worked hand in hand to offer this experience as a token of gratitude for the tireless work of the volunteers.
The organization of Fromago 2024 wishes to highlight the importance of each of the volunteers of Capitonis Durii, whose work has been essential for the success of this international fair that has put Zamora on the map as a benchmark in the world of cheese.
Thanks to initiatives such as this, the commitment to the cultural and gastronomic heritage of our land is strengthened, offering volunteers an unforgettable experience around Zamorano cheese.
